Well since I've still been unsuccessful at building a new computer - and the fact that I recently bout that AGP 7800 GS, I'm considering deviating from the Asus brand that I've been sticking with and getting an ECS. (since I can get a mobo that can take a Core 2 Duo, DDR1 (the 2GB of RAM I already have), and the AGP card which is still definately good)

With that said - what do you fuckers think of the following two transitions?  Think it's worth the money?  Think there will be a considerable performance increase?  I'm thinking that the answers to those two questions are 'Yes'.

Together the upgrade price would be (before shipping) $169.98.

The only thing I'm worried about is the Quality of the ECS mobo.  (and that stems from the fact that A) I have no personal interaction with them historically and B) they're a relatively unknown name until the past year or so)

So what do you fuckers think?

Well...for $169.98, it's not that much money to take the risk.  You'll get a performance increase.  You can keep using the 7800 GS card.  But can you a) use the same memory that's in your A7N8X board?  b) keep the same raid config without having to wipe the drives clean?

Otherwise, if it works for you, I might do the same until I can afford a new system.

Yeah - I (and you) can still use the same RAM that's in our systems already.  With respect to keeping the raid - I can because mine is on an external card; however, I would probably wipe the system clean and start fresh with the new h/w. :)  (esp with SP3 looming around the corner)

I've read shady things about ECS mobos. You tried looking at MSI or Gigabyte boards?

SP3, eh?  So Vista fails in the market and XP gets another boost?

SP3? Damn. Vista runs smooth for me no issues really. I use to format all the time with XP. But with Vista, I havent formatted in awhile.

Havent heard really anything about ECS, but I have had MSI boards and there great!
